A Brazilian citizen of 25 years was arrested at Kansai airport (central Japan) while trying to enter the country with 13 kilos of cocaine hidden in a desktop computer, local media reported today.

The arrest of the girl, identified as Karen Pereira, resident in Japan, took place on October 15 but was released today by the Nippon Press, noting that it is the largest amount of cocaine interdicted until the airport.

She was from Sao Paulo and had been at Doha (Tasting) before landing in Kansai, where the customs authorities found that the computer was heavier than normal and decided to inspect X-ray, which led to the discovery of cocaine.

It is estimated that the amount intercepted could have reached a market value of 780 billion yen (10 million), detailed the Yomiuri newspaper.

Pereira said he was her boyfriend who urged him to carry the drug in exchange for 5 million yen ($ 69,000).

The girl, who is being detained and available to the Attorney Nippon, is of Japanese descent, lived in the province of Ibaraki, north of Tokyo, and was employed in a bread factory.
