Spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, for its acronym in English) in Los Angeles arrested a high school teacher in San Bernardino, east of Los Angeles on charges of child pornography.
Eugene Ballantyne, 29 years old, was arrested at his home in Running Springs on Tuesday morning, after being detected exchanging sexually explicit pictures with the under-age minor based in New Jersey.
On questioning, Ballantyne told investigators that two years ago he received pictures with sexual content from another 15 year old and traveled over 350 miles to have sex with a child under 17 years of age last July.
Ballantyne is a social studies teacher at Arrowview Middle School, and was removed from the office two weeks ago in Unified School District San Bernardino.
He said that so far he has not been asked to provide evidence that the teacher may have had improper contact with students of this school, but the district has already begun its own internal investigation.
According to the FBI investigation, the teacher was contacted in January by a 13 year old in South Brunswick, NJ, through an internet chat site and where Ballantyne used the false name of John Baldwyn and said to be a teacher Crown.
In a statement released by the FBI office in Los Angeles, noted that Ballantyne retained the illicit photographs in his cell and that in his telephone conversations with the least inviting her to have sex while they talked.
The girl’s mother was the one who found the emails and reported them to police that her daughter kept inappropriate conversations with a guy from California.
Ballantyne is scheduled to be presented this afternoon in federal district court in Riverside
