Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, El Gordo , son of Chapo Guzman
The Secretary of the Navy of Mexico (Semar) identified Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, alleged son of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, as chiefly responsible for introducing drugs into the U.S. by cartel Sinaloa, and key in managing the affairs of his father.
During the presentation of the detainee, the director of Social Communication of the Semar, Jose Luis Vergara Ibarra, said Guzman Salazar has turned an extradition order in U.S. and an arrest warrant in Chicago.
On the premises of the Office of Special Investigations into Organized Crime (OFDI), said at the time of his capture was seized two rifles and two short, four grenades, 135 thousand U.S. dollars, 295 thousand dollars, with different names and identifications two vehicles.
Ibarra Vergara said that, as a result of an intense naval intelligence and information sharing with U.S. agencies, this morning was arrested Guzmán Salazar, nicknamed “El Gordo” in a home in Colonia Jardines de la Patria, a municipality Zapopan, Jalisco.
At the time of his capture by special forces of the Navy of Mexico, Guzman Salazar was accompanied by Kevin Daniel Beltran Rios, 19, alleged collaborator and member of the Sinaloa cartel.
The Director of Social Communication of Guzmán Salazar said Semar, a native of Jalisco, is considered one of the main leaders of the Sinaloa cartel and key element of the criminal organization.
This condition not only because of their direct blood relative link with their leader, “El Chapo Guzman,” but because presumably is responsible for managing the assets of his father, said the official Semar.
Guzman Salazar, son of Mary Alexandrina Salazar and Joaquín Guzmán Loera, has an arrest warrant in Chicago, because since 2009 the Court Northern District of Illinois charged him with his father participate in a range of offenses for drug trafficking .
Vice Admiral Vergara Ibarra explained that, in addition, the detainee has an extradition order issued by the U.S. government.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of Treasury Department identified that country Guzman Salazar and his mother as key players in drug trafficking operations of the Sinaloa cartel, including them in its list of sanctioned firms and individuals involved various drug lords.
He said that intelligence sources say the son of “El Chapo Guzman” coordinated the movement of most of the drugs sent to United States for the Sinaloa cartel, including cocaine and heroin are.
